EducationPresently, I am a fellow in the Theology, Medicine, and Culture Program at the Duke Divinity School and will be receiving an MA in May of 2016. I graduated in May of 2015 summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in University Scholars from Baylor University (with formal concentrations in the biomedical sciences, in great texts, and in ethics). Currently, I am in the midst of hearing back from medical schools for matriculation in August of 2016. At the moment, it looks like I will be heading to Stanford in the fall.
ExperienceMy PSAT and SAT scores were in the 99th percentile.
My GRE scores were in the 97th, 88th, and 98th percentiles (VR, QR, and AW, respectively).
My MCAT score was in the 98th percentile.
I have tutored extensively for six years now. Early on, I tutored exclusively for the SAT and PSAT. More recently, I have tutored students in Calculus, Physics, and MCAT preparation. For whatever reason, standardized tests have always come naturally to me, and thus far, I have been able to impart pieces of this to my students. I do not believe (and I think the data supports this) that standardized tests "measure" what we want them to measure, but for now, they are the gateway to all sorts of opportunities. As such, as long as students will keep hiring me, I am willing to keep teaching the standardized test "game."
Outside of the biomedical sciences, I have spent the majority of my intellectual time in the great texts of the western tradition. I completed an undergraduate honors thesis studying the historical circumstances of physician compensation and intend on pursuing a PhD at some point in either religious ethics or the philosophy of science.
HobbiesI enjoy drawing, fly-fishing, and very good coffee. I tend to spend the majority of my free time either running, reading, or Skyping with my friends, who have sadly managed to settle in distant cities around the globe. I truly enjoy tutoring and hope to be one of the more patient tutors that you come in contact with.
