I tutor a wide variety of subjects, but my favorites to tutor are Writing, Mathematics, and Economics. I attended the University of North Carolina, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. I also completed a minor in Spanish. While I was attending university, I was a volunteer writing instructor that worked with students around middle school age. While tutoring these students, the focus was on creative writing as well as expository development. I also volunteered as a tutor at a student organization that provided no cost English courses to people who had recently immigrated to the United States. After I graduated, I worked with the Teach For America program as a third grade teacher. The subjects I taught included Math and Science, and I was employed in the Houston area. As I have experience teaching in a classroom environment, I know that teachers often have difficulty providing students with the one on one attention they need. I have made it my goal to help classroom teachers improve upon this. I believe that students are most successful learning in a setting that is comfortable for them. Therefore, this is where I prefer to teach my students. I look forward to working with my students and helping them learn new concepts!
