Experience

I earned my Bachelor of Science in English Education from East Carolina University, and I have been working as an educator for over a decade. I hold a National Board Certification and have completed an MS at North Carolina State in Technical Communication. Due to my education and experience, my specialty is in teaching English. I am able to tutor students in all topics under the English umbrella, including, but not limited to, Writing (General, Creative, Expository, Fiction, Poetry, Technical, and Analytical), Essay Editing, Literature (American, British, Medieval, and World), Grammar and Mechanics, Poetry, Shakespeare, and Vocabulary. I am also able to assist students in AP and Honors courses and to help students preparing for standardized tests such as the SAT, PSAT, and the GRE.My favorite thing about education is helping students to enjoy (or at least be comfortable with) writing and reading. It is my belief that these tools can open a multitude of doors for a person, whether in a career setting or in the enjoyment of a fictional story. In my personal time, I love to read! I also love to be outdoors, hiking, and taking photographs. I adore travel, and I hope to venture overseas soon.
