Education

Bachelor's degree in communication with a concentration in journalism from Truman State University, Kirksville, MO

Experience

I spent time as a volunteer tutoring at-risk 4th-8th grade boys in an after-school program in Philadelphia. I worked with these students on a full range of elementary and middle school subjects. I enjoyed helping these students improve their understanding of the material while encouraging them to be excited about school and their hard work. I also have years of experience editing undergraduate and graduate level college writing, including a dissertation that was accepted for review by the University of Georgia Press without further revision. This experience, along with my degree and work in journalism, makes me well-suited to helping high school and college students hone their writing skills. I strive to help students improve their writing by coaching them on issues relating to spelling, clarity, flow, punctuation, and formatting while making sure their work remains in their own voice.
