I attended the University of Missouri, where I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Public Health. During my years of study, I worked as a tutor for math, science, and medical-related subjects. I have tutored students with a variety of academic and cultural backgrounds. Having grown up in Egypt, spent years studying in the US, and attending medical school in the West Indies, I have developed the knack for working easily and companionably with students from diverse backgrounds. I have continued to focus on and improve my tutoring skills throughout the years. One of my great challenges was when I tutored student athletes who needed to maintain good grades in classes that they really had no interest in, so they could continue focusing on their particular sport. I learned to build a relationship based on trust, to act as a mentor to my student, and support them in their goals, which were sometimes just to pass certain classes. Sometimes, I ignited an actual interest in school subjects that surprised them (but not me). I gave these students, and give all of my tutoring students, respect and attention, and gained their trust, which led to success on their part.
