EducationKenyon College - BA, Economics/International Studies
ExperienceI studied International Studies and Economics with a concentration in Environmental Studies at Kenyon College. My tutoring experience started when I was a middle school student and I would help my peers. While I was a college student, I helped elementary students from a low-income school who had difficulties. I was also part of the Model UN team. After graduation, I moved to Iceland for a few months. Then I was in Nicaragua for two years while serving in the Peace Corps. My teaching experience has included environmental studies and natural science. I've also worked with students and even teachers in other subjects, such as math from elementary to middle school levels. I also spent time teaching English to community groups during the evening. As a strong writer, I also provide editing and suggestions on papers and essays as well as help on grammar. I also can help students with their test prep. I even increased my own ACT score by self-study techniques. My students have ranged in their abilities and their ages. I also love helping others as they learn a new language. I am fluent in the Spanish language. I've found that learning a new language is a useful skill to which everyone should have access. I describe myself as helpful and patient. I enjoy the moment when the material finally clicks for a student. I also find time for reading, politics, Latin American topics and interests, running half marathons, and hiking.
