Experience
Teaching Assistant for two courses at Columbia: Spatial Analysis for Sustainable Development (GIS) Introducion to Statistics for Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (Graduate level course) SAT: 2320 (no study) LSAT: 173 (self-study) I recently submitted, as first author, a paper to the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences detailing a radiation exposure assessment I conducted along with a Columbia University research team in the Northern Marshall Islands. In order to enable the undergraduates involved with this study to take part in the data analysis effort, I devised and taught a crash course in statistics and programming using R. As I was no longer at Columbia when conducting the data analysis, I delivered this course remotely via Skype. I developed 6 lectures and accompanying practical examples in R, which I delivered weekly to the students. I also assigned weekly homework which I graded (giving detailed feedback of course!) and organized weekly discussion sessions during which each student could present their homework findings and explain the techniques they had used to arrive at their answers. Fellow with the K1 Project Center for Nuclear Studies at Columbia University (url: k1project.org) Fellow with the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Preparatory Commission (CTBTO)
