EducationDuke University - BA, International Comparative Studies, French, Arabic
ExperienceI'm originally from Littleton, Colorado and a graduate of Duke University. That is where I attained Magna Cum Laude honors, completing a double major degree in International Comparative Studies and French, with a minor in Arabic. I also had the opportunity to spend six months studying at the Sorbonne in Paris during my junior year. That experience allowed me to develop my written and oral French skills to an expert level. My previous work experience as both a French and English teacher and tutor, have given me the background necessary to help students learn and grow. In my current employment as a preschool teacher, I am continuing to use those skills with young children. One of the methods I use when tutoring students is to allow students to participate actively, as opposed to using theory. I find that when they are allowed to work with their newly acquired knowledge, they are able to retain it much better than learning by rote. I am most comfortable working with students in subjects such as ACT, ESL/ELL, Essay Editing, French, Reading, Grammar and Mechanics, Writing, and more. In my leisure time, I volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. I also enjoy figure skating, skiing, playing guitar, reading and scrapbooking.
